Few Americans know much about the Republic of Azerbaijan.  Many cannot even locate it on a map.  Our guest this week helps to educate us about this important ally of the United States.  We are joined this week by Nasimi Aghayev, the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, about the history of the country, its international relationships and such soft power efforts as student exchanges and cultural performances.

Mr. Aghayev was appointed as the Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles on April 10, 2012.  Before taking this position, he served in the Embassies of Azerbaijan in Washington, D.C., Austria and Germany.  He holds both a B.A. and an M.A. in international relations and a Master of European Law degree.  Mr. Aghayev can be found on Twitter here.  The Consulate of Azerbaijan can be found on Twitter here.
